I wear glasses. Since freshman year of college I sported rimless frames but it was not until I moved to Seattle where I learned what glasses were all about.
One day while walking through Pike Place Market I stopped into Market Optical. Turned out there was a trunk show for Robert Marc. I never heard of this designer but I loved the frames as they were the first pair I would come to own without nose grips. One of the employees at Market Optical put it bluntly, “if you are going to wear glasses don’t hide, be bold.” While my first few pairs of glasses cost upwards of $800 for Robert Marc’s or my Anne Et Valentin‘s…now Warby Parker exists bringing the cost and styles down to $99.
If I see a pair of glasses whether prescription or not…I take them over to Lenscrafters and get my prescription put in…typical cost is right around $180.
Glasses are essential to my many looks from my Burning Man Red Ray-Bans to my board room Robert Marc’s or athletic clear Derek Cardigan’s each has their time/ place.
