We went for a wedding…we made our trip…
Stay: Ledson Hotel in Downtown Sonoma (only 6 rooms…legit fun)
In Sonoma square (you are staying in the square by lodging at the Ledson) we bought wines from Pangloss Cellars (4 doors down).
The real Winery checklist…
I’d say that there are 3 or 4 clusters of 3-4 wineries that you could hit:
South:
Viansa: fairly touristy since its the first big winery driving up from SF, but good wine, and tons of little tapenades, compotes, jams, etc to sample.
Cline cellars: closer to Sonoma, fairly cheap (or used to be at least) and really laid back.
Gloria ferrer: even closer to Sonoma, awesome champagne, nice way to start the morning.
East:
Ravenswood: prob most widely available wine from Sonoma, “no wimpy reds”! is their slogan, so that’s kinda Busch league.
Gundlach bundschu: delish wines, quiet tasting room.
Buena Vista: same as gundlach
Domaine carneros: big gaudy chateau champagne stop that bachelorettes love.
Artesa: even closer to Napa, awesome views in a modern winery.
North:
Ledson: awesome gaudy red castle, with delish wine, good with rowdiness.
Beringer?or benzinger in glen Ellen, very wooded and magical place.
Mayo: always used to be our last stop cause it was open the latest and pretty close to Sonoma–shitshow by this point.
